Welcome to another episode of Content Magic!

In this special end-of-year episode, I'm reflecting on how far I've come this year, what I've learned and what I want to leave behind and encouraging you to do the same.

I'm also getting into why comparison with others this time of year will get you nowhere and how I can magically remove the stress of content creation for you over the holidays.

We are taking a podcast break for two weeks so I'll see you in the new year!

Lindsay [00:00:00]:
So if you haven't, I want to encourage you to just think about this is the easiest way to do it. What do you want to leave behind and what do you want to bring more of into the new year? If you have an online business, you're creating content. And the way you create content is more important than ever. It's really noisy out there and learning to stand out is the only way. Hey, I'm Lindsey and I'm the host of the Content Magic podcast. All about being an entrepreneur and creating kick ass content to market yourself and your business. I have a not so secret superpower for copywriting, marketing and content, and I've helped hundreds of folks just like you show up with a ton of confidence in the online space. I've been doing this content thing for 20 years and I believe the real magic is a combo of intuition, creativity and strategy.

Lindsay [00:00:54]:
You can create content for your business without losing your mind. I promise. So tune in every week for tangible content tips, inspiring guests, and some real spicy opinions. Probably mine. Ready to dive in? Let's go. Well, hello friends and welcome back to the podcast and a couple of announcements. So one, by the time this airs, it'll be December 17th. So this will be.

Lindsay [00:01:21]:
We're taking a two week break from the podcast because if you like me, you have some little people home from school for two weeks, then your house will be quite loud. So I won't quite have the space to record. But also the other thing is my kids are super excited about two weeks off and I want to do my best to hang out with them and do all the things. So there's that. Two, when this comes out, it means that tomorrow the 18th will be the last day that you can book my holiday content bundle. So what that is, it's essentially a gift for you. So, and here's how I described this morning. I said, you know those claw machines at the arcade? It's like a giant claw that comes down and like grabs the little toy and that drops it off in the little thingy.

Lindsay [00:02:20]:
So I am the giant claw in your business, except the little toy is your stress about your content. So I am the claw, the toy is the stress. I remove the stress and I don't deliver it into the little thingy. I take it away forever and ever and I throw it into the woods. So it's a claw machine gone cuckoo. So what this is essentially is. And I know that you've done this and I have done it too, especially the no Man's Land between Christmas Day and New Year's day, you kind of are like, oh shit, I gotta get that email out. I gotta throw up some random social caption so that people know that I'm still in business and I haven't.

Lindsay [00:03:06]:
Even though two weeks is not really that long of a time, I this is my belief. You still need to keep the lights on in your business, especially if you want to one, nurture your audience in January or even more if you want to sell something in January. You need to create that nurture content so that it's falling on people's eyeballs. They're seeing things. And this is actually a prime time for nurture content because that's like, that's all, that's really all we need over the next like two weeks, maybe even three weeks. So you can learn more about that at Lindsay Smith Creative Ca Holiday Essentially what it is is that I am creating that holiday content for you. It includes two emails and five social captions and I'm charging $250 Canadian. So for my American friends it's even less.

Lindsay [00:04:09]:
And just FYI, I usually charge more than that for just one email. So outsource that content. Let someone else handle it for you so you don't. And work on the stuff that is fun over the holidays if you want. Sometimes I like to do fun stuff over the holidays and the way my brain works, actually, I'm incredibly creative. So I'm always coming up with ideas. I'm always coming up with content ideas. I'm also coming up with a bunch of offer ideas.

Lindsay [00:04:42]:
Not all of them are great, to be honest. So I will work on only the fun things over the holiday and I encourage you to do the same. So that's where I created this little bundle. It's essentially a gift to you. However, I only am offering it until December 18th. So to make sure that I can fit everybody in and make sure that content is delivered before. Before that first, before the 23rd. I want to make sure everybody has content in their hands and is happy with it by the 23rd.

Lindsay [00:05:23]:
And okay, so here are some other things. So this time of year, of course there's like a lot of reflection that happens. And something I want to encourage you to do is look at where you were personally in January in your business and where you are now. A note, an appendix. You're going to probably see a bunch of content. Some emails, some social caption posts. I mean, all kinds of stuff that is like, here's how many clients I had, here's how much money I made, here's where all the money came from. Here's how many downloads my podcast got.

Lindsay [00:06:08]:
And it is very easy to get caught up in the comparison game and be like, well, I suck because I didn't make that much money and my podcast doesn't have that many downloads. And I want you to mute all of those people. Listen, they could be your best friends, they could be your neighbor, they could be your colleague. Just mute those people for now. It does not mean they're nasty or mean. It just means sometimes those con that type of content is triggering. And so the easiest or the only comparison I want you to do is to your own self. And this is something I've been reflecting on.

Lindsay [00:06:49]:
And if I look at January Lindsay compared to December Lindsay. Well, one, it's been a whole year of podcasting because I think I launched it December last year, I think Mike, is that right? So there's that. I've also been leaning very heavily into strategy and data this year. Refining my launching process, refining and simplifying my offers, looking at my funnel, you know, getting really clear on my target market, my positioning, all this stuff because up until then I was essentially winging it, which works until it doesn't work anymore. And so getting super clear on all these things has absolutely moved. Like, has it's like mind blown the things that this has revealed to me. So all I've been leaning into the super nerdy stuff because the creative part, yes, absolutely. That I am brilliant at the focusing, not so brilliant at.

Lindsay [00:07:54]:
So I've had a mentor who sort of guided me towards my nerdy self who's definitely helped me focus. And I'm going to continue to work on that. I have some pretty big ass goals for the next year. Tripling my income is one of them. And I also want you to think about what you want to leave behind in 2024 and what you want to see more of or do more of in 2025. P.S. i don't really believe in New Year's resolutions. I think they're kind of stupid and it's like too much pressure.

Lindsay [00:08:34]:
If it wants, if you want it to be a resolution, 100%, go for it. It's just my opinion on the thing is like you can change things in your life and your business in April, July or November. It does not have to be January 1st at the stroke of midnight. So just. P.S. so a lot of people pick a word. To be honest, I did pick a word and I completely forgot what it was. But I'm going to pretend that it was simplified.

Lindsay [00:09:10]:
So that's something I'm also leaning into because, like I said, I'm super creative and I have all kinds of ideas all the time. However, I'd like to. You know, I have, like, three core offers that I'm really leaning into that have been incredibly refined. There's that as I'm looking around my house, I'm like, I really want to simplify the stuff in my house. Yeah, it's just a general, good theme. And so. And when I talk about leaving something behind, it could be anything. It could be like a client, it could be a service you offer, it could be an offer you offer.

Lindsay [00:09:52]:
It could be, you know, something that, you know, maybe it was like, listen, it's been a super stressful year, I think, for so many of us, because it did not. For so many of us. It just didn't turn out the way we thought it would. Which is okay. Which is absolutely okay. If you've listened to my podcast a while, you know that I had a pretty shitty launch in the fall, in part because my son was in the hospital, in part because I think the market had just. The market has shifted. So there's that.

Lindsay [00:10:31]:
However, I think, you know, there's whatever it is that you want to leave behind, make a note of it and where you want to go in the next year or what you want to feel more of, or the person you want to serve more of, or the number of clients you want, you know, write it down. Take some time to reflect on that stuff. And I listen, I am the. I am very good at just thinking about the thing and being like, oh, okay, I've got it figured out. The writing down of the thing is way better. So I'm going to encourage you to do that wherever you want to do it in some sort of app, analog, with a pen and paper, whatever. I want you to think about what you want to leave behind. For me, like, I closed out a membership that.

Lindsay [00:11:27]:
I mean, to be honest, it was really awesome. But I was putting a lot of energy into it for not a ton of return, so I left that behind. There's certain, like, some other offers I've kind of, like, closed out and thought about. I've definitely narrowed my niche a lot, so I want to bring that into the new year. I've already done, like, a ton of 2025 planning on my own and with a group and through various mechanisms, I guess. So if you haven't, I want to encourage you to just think about. This is the easiest way to do it. What do you want to leave behind and what do you want to bring more of into the new year? So those are my challenges to you.

Lindsay [00:12:15]:
Don't forget to check out the Holiday content bundle because it's going away after tomorrow. Lindseysmithcreative Ca Holiday and I want to wish all of you a very merry holiday. And with that my friends, this is the end of a kind of shitty ish year. And cheers to a very awesome year coming up next year. And toodaloo from me until next year, my friends.
