Speaker A [00:00:55]:
Probably mine. Ready to dive in? Let's go.

Speaker B [00:00:58]:
Hi, guys.

Speaker A [00:00:59]:
Welcome back to the podcast. And I'm very excited to welcome my friend, Jenna. We sort of know each other because I feel like we've been creeping each other and we've been in similar programs. So welcome, Jenna. Why don't you tell us where you are and who you are and who you help and what you.

Speaker B [00:01:23]:
Yeah, sure. So, my name is Jenna Holloway, and if you can't tell by the accent, I am English, living in England, and thanks to the Internet, Lindsay and I have connected. And I am a subconscious coach and hypnotherapist for successful female entrepreneurs who realize that they are holding themselves back, either from having the freedom, like the mental and emotional freedom. They want to be able to enjoy their business more and enjoy their life more, like be present and actually enjoy their life, rather than feeling like they're constantly chasing the next thing, the next achievement, the next income level, whatever it is. So there's that. But I also help business owners break through to the next level from a place of ease. Right? Stop creating their success from a place of push and push and push, which leads to, well, it's unsustainable, first of all, but leads to overworking and just not living the life that they actually want to. I think that a lot of people resonate with the story of they left their corporate job to start their business to have more freedom, and then they end up working more than they ever thought they would simply because of the programming that they have, which most of us don't realize is a thing.

Speaker B [00:02:52]:
Hence, I shout from the rooftops as much as possible. It's like our outer reality and the things that we do, the things that we think, the things that we say they are all as a result of the subconscious programs that we have running. And so much of that comes from the way we've been conditioned growing up, whether that's through our parents or society or schooling, everything. And there's so much to unlearn in order to be able to create success from a place of complete freedom and ease. And part of that is to do with our relationship with money, but also our worth. And so much, thank you for having me on here today. It's a pleasure to be able to share and speak the things that I share on because I'm here to change the world.

Speaker A [00:03:41]:
Amazing. Yeah. And I can definitely relate to that, even though it's so funny. I talk about that too, right? I talk about sort of the non hustle culture, which to be fair, I think we do have seasons of hustle as an entrepreneur. And I find myself getting sucked in it too. Right. I feel like if I'm not sitting at my desk, then I'm not being productive. And we equate productivity with some sort of value, right.

Speaker A [00:04:15]:
As an entrepreneur. And I agree. So many of us worked corporate jobs for so long with this employee mindset of a butt in a seat, right? And it is a lot of unlearning. We think we need more information and often it's like we just need to undo some stuff. So why don't you tell me what led you to this entrepreneurial journey? I feel like we all. Tell me your story.

Speaker B [00:04:46]:
I was a secondary languages teacher and a real keen bean one. Like, I literally thought I was going to be a teacher for my whole life. And my husband and I, we got married pretty soon after we started teaching. We've been together forever and we traveled a lot. And when we started to want a family, it didn't happen. And we ended up on this really hard roller coaster of a journey of infertility and all sorts. It took nearly five years for us to get our miracle. Get our miracle.

Speaker B [00:05:21]:
And we were blessed with twins who are now coming up five. And after I had them, I went back into teaching and I knew instantly, as soon as I stepped foot in the door after maternity leave, I was like, I'm done here. I could just feel it was no longer aligned and I didn't have the language to articulate all the things that I talk about now, but I could just feel right. I didn't know I was intuitive, but I knew there was something and I just felt a pull to help people on a deeper level. And one thing, I was basically led to a conversation about hypnotherapy. And I knew instantly that was the way forward. Everything happened to reason. I was totally led there and it just felt so right.

Speaker B [00:06:08]:
So I jumped into hypnotherapy training, started my business, left teaching while I was training, and invested pretty quickly. As soon as I qualified, I invested. I didn't know what coaching was, but I again happened upon it while I was on instagram one day and it made so much sense to me. I invested straight off the bat and yeah, built a successful business. Now, what I didn't know, this is the crazy part of my story, which I love to share, and that is I qualified in hypnotherapy, but I just wanted to carry on improving my skills as a. Because I don't just do hypnotherapy, it's NLP and all sorts of different modalities. So I carried on training and I signed up with my mentor to go through the program that I had just trained in as a client with the intention of improving my client experience. I didn't think I needed the inner work at all.

Speaker B [00:07:06]:
I've done so much work on myself during the whole infertility journey to get my mindset to a really strong place. Like I had zero intention of. I had no expectations to get anything out of it myself. I purely went through it from a place of this is going to improve my client experience because I will know what it feels like to go through this journey. And honestly, Lindsay, it hit me like a ton of bricks. This blind spot that I had, which was no idea what was a thing. I didn't believe that I was worthy unless I was achieving. And then once I realized that, looking back, there was a pattern throughout my whole life, I was a serial high achiever and it made so much sense.

Speaker B [00:07:51]:
And then that changed the game for me because actually, at that point.

Speaker A [00:07:56]:
I.

Speaker B [00:07:56]:
Didn'T have a very good relationship with time, or I constantly was on that mission to do more, do more, do more, and I couldn't enjoy the journey, I couldn't celebrate. I just wanted what I wanted now. And I was impatient. And all of the things doing that work changed everything for me in the sense that I was able to not do things in order to feel worthy. I did that reprogramming that inner work in order to feel worthy, simply because I am. Simply because I'm alive. And that is how we all should feel, because that is the case. The only reason it would be different is through conditioning of whatever we've experienced during childhood to make us have that subconscious connection of, well, I'm only worthy of whatever it is, my mother's love or whatever in order to feel worthy.

Speaker B [00:08:50]:
And so that was huge and that led me to what I do now. And that is helping business owners change their relationship with time, success and money so that they can create the businesses they desire from ease rather than stress and strain. So yeah, in a nutshell, that's it.

Speaker A [00:09:11]:
I love that. And I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that, right? And I was the same, like in my opportunities came and I just was like, okay, I'm going to do this thing, I'm going to move to this country, I'm going to do this internship, do this, do this, and same, even in my full time career, it just was like a constant, like, what's next? What's next? Right? Yeah. And it's so fascinating and I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that because as entrepreneurs, one, we can't shut it off, right? And I always say this, whatever it is you do as an entrepreneur, it is a creative endeavor. Whatever it is, you're like thinking up programs, you're thinking up, even if you have a product based business, you're thinking up content ideas, you're thinking up different merchandising ideas. And people, service providers were always thinking up still content ideas or like offer ideas or marketing stuff, our brain never really shuts off. Yeah, and I'm sure a lot of other people can relate to that too. And my full time career was in advertising, so it was already a creative field. So I already didn't shut it off because it's just based on ideas.

Speaker A [00:10:37]:
So it's sort of the same thing. But I agree. So many of us, I feel like as women, we have this weird, we place this weird value on productivity or like I'm not worth anything unless I've done all these things, right? And as mums too. And I feel like that changes your relationship with parenting too because you're kind of like, right, like you see these patterns and you're like, oh shit, I don't want to repeat this with my own kids, 100%.

Speaker B [00:11:12]:
That was like the worst thing. That moment when I realized my girls that I'd waited so long for, I was like cock watching for them to get to nursery so I could work on my business. I was like, WTF? I just felt absolute shock that I wanted to work instead of being with my girls that I wanted so much. And I can understand it. And with the hypnotherapy and understanding of the subconscious, it makes sense. So let me explain that for the listeners. What's going on there? When you realize that something that you're doing isn't aligned with your values, it's dependent on what's going on internally, like on your inner belief system that influences your actions, right? And if your actions aren't aligned with your values, there's some work there to get the subconscious working on board with the things that you want. So for me, my values are freedom and family and some other things.

Speaker B [00:12:14]:
But the only thing that's relevant to this thing that I'm saying here is freedom and family. My family and my girls are my why? I'm building this business so that I can always be there at the sports day, the book morning, whatever it is at school. I'm building my business around them. And so when I realized that I wanted them to get to nursery so I could work on the business, I was like, hang on, something is wrong here. Now, those behaviors, those feelings were coming from that subconscious programming that I'm not worthy unless I'm achieving. And that actually I've done the work to remove that now so I can create the success. I can have the business that feels good, where the success comes with ease because I'm able to live in alignment with my values. And there's a lot of other things involved as well, to do with time and money and all sorts.

Speaker B [00:13:04]:
But basically what I'm trying to say is when we get the subconscious feeling safe to do things the way you want to do them, like I e. In alignment with your core values, that's when you're going to create what you want to create from a place of ease. Right. The subconscious needs to be on board, it needs to feel safe. Otherwise you're going to block yourself and you're going to hold yourself back at every opportunity because your subconscious does not care about the big dreams or your vision doesn't care. All it cares about is keeping you safe and alive. So therefore, it's going to compare all of your past experiences and what you've made those mean about you and hold you back if it detects any risk or danger for you. So that's why the inner work as entrepreneurs is so, so important, so that you neutralize anything and basically make it safe for you to go out and achieve what you want to achieve in a way that feels good.

Speaker B [00:14:03]:
So, yeah, we can't outrun our subconscious programming. It's just not a thing. Right. We've got the brain that's designed to keep us alive, not to make us happy and successful and confident, et cetera.

Speaker A [00:14:17]:
Yes, and I agree. And I feel like that inner work, it kind of almost never ends. I feel. And like you said, right, like you took this course because you were like, oh, I want to make this, I'm doing this course because I want to figure out what it's like for my clients to go through it. And then you were like, oh, wait a minute, I have all this stuff. And I agree, right? And I did, like, a yoga teacher training. I was a yoga teacher for a while. So same thing.

Speaker A [00:14:44]:
I was just like, oh, I got this. I've done all the inner work. I'm all set. And then you come up, you face these things, and especially as you grow, right? And I agree, your business can't outgrow you as a person. And that's the way I teach content, too. It's like if it doesn't feel good, then what's the point of putting it out into the world if it doesn't feel aligned with you? Which often I feel like if you're implementing someone else's strategy or someone else's prescription for whatever it is, for your business, for your content, for marketing, whatever it is, usually that doesn't work because like you said, you have to figure out what your values are and you have to figure out what feels aligned for you, which I think sometimes takes practice. And I've been working for myself in some form for ten years, but even when I switched from done for you with done with you, I was met with all these things like, oh, this isn't good enough, and I'm too old, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And this person's doing this sexy thing, and this person has this cool sequin jacket, and I don't have a sequin jacket, so I can't do it.

Speaker A [00:16:04]:
Right. You meet up all these things and I find that even, and it's a lot like parenting, too. As soon as you think you're like, oh, I've got to figure it out. It's a new stage, and you're like, oh, okay, right. A new thing. A new thing, yeah.

Speaker B [00:16:18]:
And the mindset to have around the inner work never going away is to have an empowered mindset around that. Right? Expect the things that you worked on before to come again, to come up again, because you're either growing or you're dead right. Business. We are growing fast. So of course we're going to see the issues that we've worked through before. Of course they're going to crop up again because they're cropping up in a new way. You're going deeper. Think of it like an onion, right? You are constantly evolving, so therefore, new things are always going to come up for you.

Speaker B [00:16:57]:
So don't feel frustrated when they do. Don't feel like all the work you've done on yourself before didn't work. Otherwise, this won't come up again. Like, absolutely not. Expect them to come up again and celebrate when they come up, because that's an opportunity to move through it and keep going on and evolving and evolving.

Speaker A [00:17:15]:
So it's normal that you work on money mindset or whatever, and then you go through, like, a phase of, like, okay, I've got this figured out, and then it comes up again. That's normal.

Speaker B [00:17:26]:
Absolutely. Because in terms of what I want to say, based on what you just said, is about desire, right. And money likes the energy of desire. It doesn't work with need. Okay? So you got to get in that energy of desire. What do I want? And then you bring that in. You're the vibrational match for that in terms of who you are being that be, do have model. Also, not about just sitting here manifesting.

Speaker B [00:17:54]:
It's about taking the action and being the person who does the thing that gets to have the thing that you want. Okay, great. You've created that reality. And then it's about constantly asking, right, what do I desire now? What do I desire now? Because if you're not asking that question, you're not giving yourself the option to expand, and then you'll just hit that plateau. Okay, so, yes, constantly you're expanding your desire. You're expanding your capacity to hold more, and then it will drop in. But it will not drop in if you've not expanded your capacity to desire more, to have more, to hold more. So, yeah, 100% is constantly ongoing, but it's about being proactive and being empowered about that work.

Speaker B [00:18:39]:
Yeah, there's so much I can say.

Speaker A [00:18:40]:
On it, and I agree. And I think that sort of, that energy of need, it's like a desperation. Right? So that's not really going to get you anywhere. And I've been in that space for sure. We've all been in that space of throwing something out and being like, oh, I need six people in this something or other. Right. And if you. That energy of need and desperation, I feel like any sort of potential clients or buyers can feel that.

Speaker A [00:19:10]:
And I love what you said about this idea of getting into this mode of expansion and abundance is the word that we throw around a million all the time. But I love that I had a coach one time talk about money. Like, we were talking about money, and she was like, we have to take money off the pedestal and make it just, like, neutral. She was like, think about money as your underwear drawer. She's like, your underwear drawer is full of underwear, so it's the same as money. Like, just pretend it's a drawer full of underwear. I was like, oh, that makes sense.

Speaker B [00:19:48]:
Yes. The reason people make it so hard to make money is because they believe that it's hard. Right? But if you had the relationship with money, like the relationship that you have with the tap, I. E. You turn the tap on, the water flows. You don't hope and pray that the water is going to come out. You turn it on, you expect it to be there. Right? And this is why you get millionaires out there who are going through really tough times in their personal life, but they're still able to make loads and loads of money.

Speaker B [00:20:18]:
It's because of their relationship with money. And so when you find it hard to make money, it's not that you don't deserve it or anything like that. It's purely down to your relationship with money. And when you believe that, it's easy to make and you don't have to be working hard to make it, and you don't have to be high vibe to make it, and all of these things.

Speaker A [00:20:39]:
God, high vibe.

Speaker B [00:20:40]:
Yeah. There's so much at play, and it's just about taking the pressure off, because actually, it is just as easy to manifest 50 p. But do you have p independence in Canada? 50 pence, whatever, or a free coffee coupon as it is to manifest a million? Right? And you might listen to it and be like, shut up, Jenna. But actually, it's true. We co create with the universe all the time. It matters not whether it's something tiny or something huge. The only reason it makes a difference to you is because of what's in your internal belief system. Because our outer reality is a reflection of what we feel and what we think and what we leave on the inside.

Speaker B [00:21:23]:
If you're in that place now where you're like, I really need a cash injection in my business, or whatever, that is what to do there to shift the energy and to help you get into a place where you're not in that frequency of need. If you actually just sit back in your chair and relax for a second, take a big deep breath in and just sigh it out and realize that you already have everything you need, right? If you've got clean clothes to wear, if you've got food in the kitchen, if you are able to have a shower and drink some clean water, you have a roof over your head, you literally have everything you need. So get grateful for all of that in your life, first of all, and then recognize that what you're saying that you need are you the cash injection in your business. You don't actually need it, you desire it. So you're grateful for everything that you have in your life right now. And you are excited about all the things that are coming because your ability to sit in the duality of your situation right now and be excited about what you want to create, your ability to hold that neutrality. Sorry. That duality is going to be the thing that's going to help you create that reality.

Speaker B [00:22:47]:
Because if you're not grateful for what you have right now and you're telling yourself that you need the cash injection, then you're going to stay in that energy of need. And like we said earlier, money doesn't like the need. You're effectively pushing it away because it's not attracted to you. Just to sum up, get grateful for what you have right now and get good about holding the duality of where you're at right now and excited and grateful for everything that you see in your mind's eye that is coming. Because everything that you see in your mind's eye is possible. It's like it's sitting out on the doorstep waiting for you. But you've got to be the match for that thing to come into your house, to be welcomed in. We've got a whole framework called becoming an energetic match, but I've essentially just described it there.

Speaker B [00:23:36]:
Yeah. It's about who you're being, first of all.

Speaker A [00:23:39]:
Yeah. And if you think about it in terms of like a relationship, if you're in a relationship and you're super needy and clinging to this other person, what's going to happen? They're going to leave. Right. And I feel like we can all relate to that, like in our early twenty s teens. Right? Yeah. I love that. And I've talked about this a lot with my kids, too, especially now that we're approaching the holidays and there's presents and this stuff coming. Yeah.

Speaker A [00:24:20]:
I've talked about this idea of gratitude with the kids a lot. I don't know if it's working, but I agree. I have days where I just look around, I'm like, oh my God, I've got stretchy pants, I have clean clothes, I have clean bedsheets. It's wild. If you look around and I find I have a dog who I walk a lot, and I find the best way to sort of realize the abundance of everything is to go outside. And you're just like, oh my God, the trees don't like the trees and the leaves and the snow or whatever, they just exist and they just keep growing. If you need an example of abundance or expansive energy, just go outside and just look around. Be like, oh, my God, all these things just exist and keep multiplying and keep coming and birds.

Speaker A [00:25:19]:
And now I'm getting really woo woo. But that's okay, right? I find that's the easiest way. Just go outdoors, wherever it is that you live, or look at every single tiny little blade of grass. Like nobody said, oh, my God, we need these million tiny blades of grass. They just exist.

Speaker B [00:25:40]:
Yeah, 100%. The other thing to say as well is that the reason this is such an issue for entrepreneurs is due to our conditioned relationship with time as well. If we've ever been in the school system and we've had exams to pass, we will have had that exam schedule drummed into us. You need to know all of this curriculum by the exam deadline, and that's happening to you at an early age when your brain is still maturing, you are taking on those concepts and they are forming who you are and your relationship with the world and everything. So therefore, your relationship with time. So many of us, so many of my clients, when they come to me, they feel like they are on this treadmill and they need to have the success now because they just feel like they're running out of time all the time. But actually, that can be unlearned completely because actually, if you're doing your business to change the world, which all of my clients are, right, I don't work with anybody who's there to just make a quick buck and then f off. You're doing it because you have a passion and a desire to leave the world a better place.

Speaker B [00:26:51]:
And so if that's true for you, then you're not going anywhere, right? And so it doesn't matter if you can see the vision in your mind's eye and you know with every fiber of your being that that is going to happen, then it doesn't matter if it happens this month, next month, or even in a year's time. Are you committed to making that happen? Yes, you are. Right? Chill the f out then, and do it with passion, do it with joy, and stop putting pressure on yourself to have it done yesterday. It's all happening and you release that pressure on yourself to just flow and do it with love and trust that everything is always working out for you. You just release that pressure to meet the deadline, right? Stop living for the target of hitting that next income goal and start zooming out and thinking, well, of course it's going to happen because I wouldn't want it if it wasn't for me and I have what it takes. As long as you're committed and you've got the right mindset and you're committed to doing the mindset work to spot where your self sabotage and your patterns are right? Because your subconscious, like I say, unless we're doing the deep work, like properly changing those limiting beliefs, it's going to get in the way. So you've got to spot those patterns of self sabotage in order to overcome them. Because inaction is a choice still.

Speaker B [00:28:18]:
But as long as you're doing that work and as long as you're committed to your mindset and being the person that does the thing, then you're going to have it. So whether it's tomorrow or in six weeks time or even six months time, you're going to get it.

Speaker A [00:28:33]:
I love that. And I think it's also right. Like you said at the beginning, your values are freedom and family. So we also get to decide what success looks like for us, right? It doesn't have to be a million dollars. It can be $50,000, it can be $20,000. It doesn't have to be some dollar amount. It can also just be like, okay, I'm bringing enough money to whatever, pay for the kids activities, pay the bills, whatever it is. And also you're available.

Speaker A [00:29:12]:
For me, it's getting the kids off the bus and my youngest son. So there's like an after school program, right? And so some of my friend's buddies are in this after school program. He was like, mom, I'm going to go to aftercare. I'm like, well, first of all, there's a huge waitlist and there's other families that need it more than you. And the whole reason that I do what I do is so I can shut the laptop down at 03:00 and get you at the bus. So he thinks it's like this great fun time because, I don't know, they play nerf guns or something or who knows what, right? So, same as you, right? One of my values is absolutely the freedom and absolutely the family, right? Like, if. If a kid is home sick, it makes more sense for me to be around than my husband to call in sick to his work. So you kind of have to figure out what success looks like for you.

Speaker A [00:30:11]:
Especially in the coaching industry, we're influenced by, I don't know why this exists. This is like magical ten k months, right? I don't know why that has become a thing if that's your own personal goal, amazing. But it doesn't have to be that. You can decide exactly what it is that it means to you.

Speaker B [00:30:34]:
Yeah. And if you want clarity over that, then what I would suggest is if you kind of realize that you've got a goal that's ten k and you've just heard Lindsay say that and you're like, okay, what do I actually want? What I want you to do is to just close your eyes and imagine when you achieve that goal of ten k months, what are you going to feel? That's your clue, right? How you're going to feel when you achieve that? That's your clue. Because that's the energy of achievement for you. Are you going to feel free? Right? Okay, so success is important for you because you're going to feel free when you create that. So we give our power away to money and ten k months and monetary goals and everything, but that's until we've done the work to realize that actually success and happiness is an inside thing, right? We create it from the inside out. So, so many people, until they do this work and then so many people never get to do this work in this lifetime and they realize that they literally die having lived a whole life chasing thing after thing after thing, thinking it's going to bring them happiness, when actually that happiness is an internal thing all along. So we have to work out why we're doing what we're doing, what does success feel like? And then build your life around that. If that's freedom, like exactly what you're saying, Lindsay, especially if you're a mum listening to this, because there's so much success online being created by entrepreneurs who are not parents.

Speaker B [00:32:04]:
And it's a completely different ballgame. I know that my business would look completely different if I didn't have a family right now, but my values are freedom and family. And so I'm intentionally building my business probably quite a lot slower than I could, but I'm not sacrificing my values, right. To me, it feels so incredibly freeing to be always to be around for my girls. And I have built the business with my dreams because I've done it with my values at the forefront. It means that I do not make choices that are not in alignment with those values. And so it is what it is, right? I'm happy, and that's what matters. I think I might have gone off on a bit of a bit of a tangent there, but yes, know what you want to achieve.

Speaker B [00:32:54]:
How are you going to feel when you get that? And that will help you get clarity on your actual goal, whether it's monetary still. It might still be the same thing, but actually consciously being connected to the why matters rather than picking an arbitrary goal, because it just seems that everybody else is doing is having that.

Speaker A [00:33:14]:
Yes. Agreed. Jenna, this was so lovely. Thank you. Where can the people find you?

Speaker B [00:33:22]:
My heart and my home is Instagram, so people can find me there. My handle is I am Jenna Holloway. I also have my own podcast called bigger than you, and I have something coming. I do not know when this is available, when this show is going to go out, but actually I think I'm going to share it because I think by the time this episode goes live, I will have announced it to the world as well. But if not, then you'll be the first to hear it. Here I am creating a membership for my community with a monthly theme for business owners to create success with far more ease, fun, and flow. So all the things that come up regularly within my client spaces, I'll be creating monthly themes by that and creating a hypnosis track for the membership, a Q and a session, and some other things. I'm still kind of bringing the offer to life, but essentially this is going to launch in January and so, so excited about how much it can change things for people.

Speaker B [00:34:31]:
It's going to be a very low ticket membership. So if you are interested by the time this goes live, basically come over to Instagram, click the link in my bio. I'm sure something there by then, by the time this episode goes live. So yes, that's what I would like to promote. Thank you very much, Lindsay.

Speaker A [00:34:47]:
Oh, that sounds awesome. And honestly, don't we all want ease and flow? I feel we'll include all that information in the show notes. Thank you so much for coming, Jenna.

Speaker B [00:34:58]:
Thank you so much for having me. It's been.

Speaker A [00:35:01]:
Thank you so much for listening. If you loved what you heard, don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, or share this episode on social media. And don't forget to tag me on Instagram at Lindsaysmith Creative. And if you do all three, I'll be your best friend forever and invite you to all my birthday parties. That's it for today. And I'll see you next time.
